He was born Sept. 30, 1952, to Mr. James Peeks and the late Mattie Edwards Peeks. He grew up in the Bartow County area and, until his passing, made his residence in Cartersville.
Larry worked most of his life as a truck driver, at one time owning his own dump truck company, L.E. Peeks Trucking. Most recently, he was employed by Bartow Paving Company.
He was a fun-loving, care-free spirit who enjoyed good times with friends and family. He never met a stranger and could make anyone laugh with his quick-witted humor. Larry's own laugh was infectious and his smile was usually sly, displaying his zest for life. He was a loyal brother and friend to many. He was a devoted son and a cherished father and grandfather.
He leaves to honor his memory, father, James Peeks; three daughters; Tressa Colon, Briana (Kenneth) Smith and Donna (Gerald) Bell; one son, Rodney (Tracy) Darden; seven grandchildren, Cristian Colon, Eriq Colon, LaTasha Echols, Brooke Darden, Helania Darden, Denisha Williams and Gerald Bell Jr.; one great-grandchild, Dalayshia Harris; four brothers, Jamie (Melody) Peeks, Aaron (Clara Belle) Peeks, Ray (Emma) Peeks, Jerry (Carrie) Creamer; three sisters, Evelyn (Robert) Lavette, Margaret Ann Banks and Bobbie Richards; a significant other, Phyllis Gainor; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Funeral service will be Saturday, Jan. 21, at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church at noon. Interment will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery.
