Jesse Ray Weldon, 78, of Grove Way, Cartersville, passed away Wednesday evening at Cartersville Medical Center.

Mr. Weldon was born Nov. 2, 1933, in LaGrange, son of the late Jesse Lee Weldon and Annis Ray Weldon. He was retired from American Carpet Mills and was of the Church of God faith. He spent his entire adult life in the Carpet Industry and was a veteran of the Korean Conflict having served in the U.S. Navy. He loved sports and spending time with his grandkids. He was considered by his family to be the sweetest man on earth. Mr. Weldon was preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie Weldon in 1976; a daughter, Debbie Anne Weldon in 1955; and by a sister, Margie Traylor.

Survivors include a daughter, Vonnie Jerrine "Rita" Pittman, and husband Jerry F. Pittman of Acworth; four grandchildren, Paula Jerrine Pittman Davis, and husband Chris Jasper, Chad Felton Pittman, and wife Amber of Cartersville, Jessica Ray Pittman of Acworth, Robert Clyde Pittman of Acworth; four great-grandchildren, Brooklyn Grace Pittman, Braden Chad Pittman, Boston Shaw Pittman, Camden Glenn Davis; special companion, Ruth Jenkins of Cartersville; extended family, Eddie and Dale Jenkins, Randy and Donna Jenkins, Anthony and Tammy Collum, Hannah Jenkins, Waylon Collum, Kyla Jenkins; brothers and sisters, Sonny and Mary Weldon, Linda Sue Weldon all of LaGrange; brother-in-law, Jerry Traylor; breakfast buddies, E.J. Darnell and Rhonda Elrod; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, Jan. 28, at 11 a.m. in the Owen Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Steve Sheffield officiating. Interment will be at 2:30 p.m. in LaGrange City Cemetery, LaGrange.

The family will receive friends Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Owen Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will include Chad Pittman, Chris Davis, Randy Jenkins and Eddie Jenkins. Honorary pallbearers will include Michael Barrett, Johnny Weldon and Robert Pittman.
