Mrs. Ruby Louise Green was born on Nov. 14, 1946, in Floyd County. She departed this life on Jan. 26, 2012. Funeral service will be Thursday, Feb. 2, at 1 p.m. at Greater Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery. Family will be receiving friends at the Funeral Home Wednesday, Feb. 1, from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.

She was the second child of three born to the late Ms. Mary Hitchcock. Her brother Fredrick Johnson and sister Grace Wheat both preceded her in death.

Ruby attended Summer Hill High School located in Cartersville. After graduating in 1965, she worked as a teacher's aide in the Bartow County School System for many years. In the mid-1970s, she worked at Southern Bell and retired after her health began to fail. Ruby gave her life to Christ at a very young age and attended Faith Temple Church of God in Christ. Later in life she joined Greater Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church.

Ruby married the love of her life, Johnny L. Green Sr. They were united in marriage for 43 years. They raised three children: Patrick, Valerie and Johnny Jr. She was a devoted mother and was very involved in her children's activities. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, baking, shopping, crafts and traveling.

She leaves to cherish her memory a loving husband, Johnny; two sons: Patrick (Atlanta) and Johnny Jr. (Cartersville) and a daughter: Valerie (Upper Marlboro, Md.); four grandchildren: Patrick Jr., Devane, Kenya and Orlando; and one great grandchild. She also leaves a host of nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
