According to Bartow County Fire Department Battalion Chief Bryan Keeling, the fire started about 9:15 p.m. when liquid aluminum, heated to 1,300 degrees, spilled near machinery.
The spill was not large, but BCFD stations 1, 2, 10 and 15 were dispatched and were on scene about an hour.
Damages were minor and no injuries were reported.
Suspect escapes during chase
Bartow County Sheriff's deputies and Bartow-Cartersville Drug Task Force agents were involved Wednesday night in a foot chase in the area of Cedar Creek Road.
According to authorities, the male suspect was wanted on a parole warrant and previously had been sought by the DTF. When deputies arrived at the Cedar Creek residence, the man fled, traversing a wooded area and scaling several fences during the pursuit.
A perimeter was established in the area with a K9 unit called in to assist in the search, but lost the suspect's scent.
Calls Thursday seeking information on the incident were not returned.
