Mr. Dewey Leon Murphy, 83, of 3231 Dallas Highway, Marietta, GA, passed away Thursday evening, March 1, 2012, at his residence.

Mr. Murphy was born in Bartow County, Dec. 30, 1928, son of the late Dewey "Dick" and Lollie Hammons Murphy. He was of the Baptist Faith and a member of the IAM, and International Machinist organization. He had retired from Lockheed Martin Aircraft with over 30 years of service. In addition, he was the co-founder, along with his two sons, of ATC Collision. Mr. Murphy had also been a successful antique dealer and was involved in the restoration and renovation of numerous homes in the Marietta area. An animal lover, he enjoyed spending time with his pets. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Bonnie Bess Adcock Murphy; three brothers, Lee Murphy, Delano Murphy, and Harvey Murphy; and a sister, Louise Partee.

Survivors include two sons, Larry Murphy of Acworth and Tony Murphy Sr. of Marietta; four grandchildren, Tony Murphy Jr. of Marietta, Heather Murphy of Marietta, Racquel Murphy of Alpharetta, and Ashley Murphy of Acworth; a brother, Eugene Murphy of Adairsville; three sisters, Odell Cantrell of Adairsville, Elizabeth Jarrett of Cartersville, and Linda Lanham of Cedartown; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, March 4, at 1:30 p.m. in the chapel of Barton Funeral Home with Minister Danny Pelfrey officiating. Interment will follow in Georgia Memorial Park, Marietta.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Barton Funeral Home, Adairsville.
