She was born in Elberton March 5, 1940, daughter of the late Grady and Gertrude Turner Wood. Mrs. Tankersley was a member of Snow Springs Baptist Church and the Sans Souci Club. She had been an X-ray technician for over 45 years, working at Floyd Medical Center and later at Harbin Clinic. A former member of the Palomino Horse Breeders of America Association, she had a passion for horses and other animals. Mrs. Tankersley most enjoyed taking care of her family and was known for always putting others before herself.
She was preceded in death by her two sons, Jeff and Russell Darnell, and a sister, Betty Mitchell.
Survivors include her husband, Stan Tankersley, of Adairsville; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be announced at a later date and will be held at Snow Springs Baptist Church, Adairsville.
