An early morning accident Wednesday injured a local motorcyclist after a teen ran a stop sign.

Georgia State Patrol Public Information Officer Gordy Wright said the crash on Peeples Valley Road at Old Grassdale about 7:30 a.m. was caused by a 19-year-old woman from Taylorsville.

The 2009 Honda Civic being driven by the Taylorsville woman ran the stop sign and struck a 2008 Harley traveling south on Peeples Valley, Wright said. The motorcycle was being operated by Michael Wayne May, 42, of Cartersville.

The motorcycle was hit on the left side and the impact ejected May, who was transported to Floyd Medical Center.

The crash remains under investigation.
