William E. (Ebbie) Hames, 73, of Cartersville died Thursday, March 15, 2012.

Mr. Hames was born April 21, 1938, in Bartow County, a son of the late Presley Hames and Bessie Dover Hames.

He was of the Baptist faith and a retired warehouseman. After retirement Mr. Hames was employed at Cartersville Country Club for a number of years. He enjoyed gardening, cooking, building doll houses and working jigsaw puzzles.

Survivors include his wife, Mozelle Hames; one son, Mark Hames of Salem, Ore.; five grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; a step-daughter, Cynthia Holland of Adairsville; a special niece, Wanda Gayton of Acworth; three sisters, Annie Ledbetter of Aragon, Janie Miller of Euharlee and Francis Chapman of Leesburg; one brother, Horace Hames of Piedmont, Ala.; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a son, Danny Hames.

Graveside services will be held 3 p.m. Sunday, March 18, from the Bethel Cross Roads Baptist Church cemetery, near Taylorsville, with Rev. James Hannah officiating.

In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make contributions to the United Way of Bartow County.

Pallbearers will be David Hannah, Will Hannah, Derek Gayton and John and Clyde Akins.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday.
