Looking to solidify its their lineups ahead of next week’s Region 7-AAAA track and field meet, the Woodland boys and girls were competing against themselves almost as much as they were the other teams — Armuchee, Calhoun, Gordon Central and Chattooga — at Thursday’s final regular-season tune-up.

The Wildcats and Lady Wildcats both took victories in the five-team meet with 144 and 195 points, respectively. Woodland’s girls finished ahead of host Gordon Central (74), Armuchee (32), Calhoun (25) and Chattooga (7). Rounding out the standings on the boys’ side were Gordon Central (90), Calhoun (86), Chattooga (12) and Armuchee (2).

No major changes occurred in the Woodland lineups, but boys coach Adrian Steele acknowledged he did lost a bet with his 4x100 relay team. Steele said he promised to switch anchors — from a senior runner to a freshman — if the Wildcats’ relay team ran a faster time than the ones it had posted running in his order. The bet proved unwise — or maybe not — for Steele who watched his 4x100 relay team win its event in a time of 42.18 seconds.

Other Woodland winners from the meet included Brianna Brown (girls high jump, 5 feet, inches); Brandon Thompson (boys high jump, 6-4); Ariana Lovins (girls triple jump, 32-1 1/2); Trey Thompson (boys triple jump, 41-8 3/4); Ashley Barrera (girls 3200 meter run, 12 minutes, 5.84 seconds; girls 1600 meter run, 5:53.37); Logan Rempe (boys 3200 meter run, 10:49.63); girls 4x100 meter relay team (52.13); Katie Harris (girls 400 meter dash, 1:04.12); Twan Terrell (boys 400 meter dash, 50.81); Idraiah Thompson (girls 100 meter dash, 12.65; girls 200 meter dash, 26.34); C.J. Woods (boys 100 meter dash, 10.75); Rachel Mez (girls 800 meter run, 2:38.90); Kat Moreno (girls 300 meter hurdles, 51.97); Deo Adams (boys 300 meter hurdles, 40.09); girls 4x400 meter relay team (4:24.24); boys 4x400 meter relay team (3:34.18); Samantha Patterson (girls pole vault, 9-6); and Bryce Marratta (boys pole vault, 12-6).
