About 10:30 p.m. Thursday, officers advised Bartow County dispatch that shots had been fired at the Emerson residence. According to those reports, the suspect suffered a gunshot wound and all responding emergency personnel were staged at South Central Middle School until the scene was "cleared."
Bartow County Sheriff's Office Sgt. Jonathan Rogers said Thursday night that the shooting involved a federal agency serving a warrant.
U.S. Marshals were on scene, as were members of the Bartow-Cartersville Drug Task Force and the BCSO.
Shortly after 11 p.m., the county coroner arrived on scene and was directed into the driveway shortly thereafter.
A call to the U.S. Marshals Office in Atlanta Friday morning revealed the agency is still determining how information will be released based on where the warrant was taken.
The Daily Tribune News has requested a copy of the incident report from the BCSO.
County Coroner Joel Guyton declined to comment on the case, referring the media to law enforcement.
