Outside of work, Beck has dedicated her life not only to her family, but to the Tabernacle Baptist Church music ministry. In that ministry, she is part of the Worship Choir, Praise Team and she is the children's 5th grade choral leader. During her time as a volunteer in the children's department, she has directed several of the children's choir musicals. She also has served on the finance committee, the decorating committee for her church and traveled with the youth on mission tours.
Beck was born and raised in Bartow County and has been married to John Beck for 39 years. John is employed locally by Pandel, Inc. They have one son, Jonathan Beck, and their daughter Leslie is married to Brian Shoemaker. She is "Gic Gic" to grandchildren Ryan McCrary and Harper Shoemaker. Beck is the daughter of Urby and Jean Wilson Tatum and the daughter-in-law of Betty Lusk Beck and the late Grady Beck, all of Cartersville.
She worked in the banking industry before coming to the courthouse. While working at First Union National Bank she was recognized numerous times for her excellent customer service skills.
"Under Valenda Bailey, the tax commissioner's office has a strong tradition of customer service. I will continue that tradition of service to the people of Bartow County," Beck said. Because of her prior experience in the tax commissioners office and with her strong customer service skills, Beck is the ideal candidate for tax commissioner, her press release said.
