The Knights chopped down the Eagles, 6-2.
River Ridge defeated Adairsville 10-0 on March 27 but the Tigers responded with a 4-2 victory on April 13.
Adairville had a 10-11 overall record and was 6-6 in Region 7A-AA.
River Ridge finished with a 9-13 overall record and was 6-6 in the region.
Finishing in first and second place were Coosa (15-4, 10-2) and Pepperell (15-7, 7-5).
Tiger head coach Eric Bishop said he was proud of his team for the way it completed its regular season. Adairsville won its final three games and five of its last six.
The Tigers had started their season with three losses, endured some close losses while they matured and closed with some determined play to thrust their way into the playoff picture.
"We almost got in the back door, but their game was rained out last week and River Ridge got the win today," Bishop said Monday.
He noted Adairsville has two games left in its season, as it hosts Chattooga in a double-header that is scheduled to start on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m.
"We have to start working toward next year now," he added.
Woodland 7,
Northwest Whitfield 6
After falling behind by three runs, Woodland rallied with four runs in the fourth inning to snatch a 7-6 victory over Northwest Whitfield Monday in Region 7-AAAA baseball action.
Camden McGill and Robert Harris both contributed 3-for-4 nights for the Wildcats, which included a double and four RBIs for McGill. They also got hits from Hunter Siniard (1 for 2, walk), Tyler Stringer (1 for 3, RBI), Gavin Livsey (1 for 1, two walks) and Dalton Martin (1 for 2, double, RBI).
Martin pitched the full seven innings for the win, allowing seven hits and three walks while striking out six.
"The big thing is, I'm proud of my guys," Woodland coach Corey Gochee said. "We go out there, we give up some weak-ball ground hits to load the bases and we give up three runs."
Those three first-inning runs gave the Bruins a lead that stretched to 4-1 in the third after Northwest Whitfield answered a Wildcat run in the second.
Woodland broke through with four runs in the fourth, though, and added two more in the sixth. The hosts held off the Bruins, who scored two in the sixth but none in the final inning.
"I was proud of us for just chipping away in the middle innings," Gochee said. "We ended up taking the lead in the fourth and ended up holding on."
Martin helped Woodland remain within striking distance with another steady outing on the mound.
"He was able to keep it close and give us a chance to win," Gochee said of his senior pitcher. "He's done a very good job of late on the mound, giving us a chance."
The Wildcats lost 3-2 to South Forsyth last Friday in a game at the Atlanta Braves' Turner Field. They then lost a crucial region game to Lambert Saturday, falling 7-1. The Longhorns currently sit in the fourth and final playoff spot in the region, with 11 wins and three region games left.
Woodland moved to 13-12 overall and 10-9 in the region, with its final game of the season coming Friday against South Forsyth for senior night.
"Friday night, we got South Forsyth. We had a very close game with them at their place," Gochee said in regard to a 3-0 loss on April 3. "Our goal will be to send our four seniors out with a win. ... Hopefully, we can get a few timely hits and come away with the win."
Cass 3, Rome 2
Cass scored in the bottom of the seventh with the help of a walk and two balks sandwiched around a wild pitch to defeat Rome, 3-2, in high school baseball Monday night.
The win allowed the Colonels to move within a game of .500 in their region.
The Wolves started early, getting on base in the top of the first with a double by Nathan Meeks, who advanced to third on a sacrifice, then scored on a single by Trey Turner.
The Colonels responded in the bottom of the second with a home run courtesy of Dylan Williams that knotted the contest at 1-all.
Bo Tucker singled his way on in the fourth for the Wolves, went to second on a sacrifice and to third and home on two errors.
Cass overcame that deficit in the bottom of the fourth with a run by Tyler Gates, who reached on an error and moved to second the same way. Gates advanced to third and then scored on a single by Brandon Etheridge.
The Wolves did not cross home plate the next three innings, but Colonels found a way in the bottom of the seventh after Sam Dupree drew a walk, advanced to second on a balk, moved to third on a wild pitch, and scored on a balk.
Noah Sims earned the win for the Colonels, surrendering two runs, one earned, while striking out 11.
Cass improved to 13-10 with the victory while raising the Region 7-AAAA record to 8-9.
Zach Russo took the loss for Rome, which dropped to 5-18, 2-16.
Cass next plays today when it hosts Forsyth Central. The game is scheduled to start at 2 p.m.
