Anthony G. "Antman" Smith, 41, of Asheville, N.C., formerly of Emerson, lost his fight with Adrenoleukodystrophy on Sunday, April 22, 2012.

Funeral services will be held at Owen Funeral Home on Thursday, April 26, at 1 p.m. Family will receive friends at Owen Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 25, from 6 to 9 p.m.

Anthony was born July 20, 1970, to Genell Cordell Smith and the late George Edward Smith of Emerson. He is a graduate of Cass High School and spent many years working in supervisory positions in manufacturing and quality control.

Surviving family members include his loving and devoted wife of eight years, Kelly Renee (Dyer) Smith of Asheville, N.C.; his children, Brittany Megan Smith and Taylor Anthony Smith; his step-daughter, Kristen Danielle Steel; his sister, Cheryl Brown; his sister-in-law, Janice Smith; aunts and uncles; Larry and Linda Cordell, Rovene Cordell, Lois and Charlie Rainey, Evelyn and Ronald Garland, Kate Grizzle, Ronald and Sharon Smith and John and Louise Rampley; niece and nephews, DJ Black, Brandon Hughes, Amanda Jarrett and Eric Smith; great-nephews, Mason and Aidan Hughes; a host of cousins and extended family, as well as special life-long best friends Donovan Shook, Tim Evans and Michael Sneed.

Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his father, George Smith, his brother Michael Smith; aunts and uncles Charles Cordell, Jack Grizzle, Elmer Rampley, Lillie Bell and JD Atkinson.
