Cass, which had ended its season with a winning streak the last three years, had another opportunity to do so Friday at Creekview. The Colonels had pulled into a tie with the hosts after scoring a run apiece in the last two innings.

Following two strikeouts in the bottom of the seventh, the Grizzlies strung together back-to-back singles, including D'Ondrei Hubbard's game-winner to center field to give his team a 5-4 win.

Cass' Tyler Gates pitched the final two-thirds of the game after Noah Sims (four) and Chris Morton (two) had pitched the previous innings. Sims finished with two walks, two strikeouts, four hits and three earned runs, and Morton surrendered three hits and gave up an earned run.

Parker Nunally went the full seven innings for Creekview, allowing three earned runs on five hits, one walk and one hit batter while striking out five.

The Colonels got out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first on Gates' two-run homer to left-center field, which also scored Brandon Etheridge who had reached base on a single.

The Grizzlies clawed back for one run in the third on Tyler Childers' double to left in the third, and they added two more runs for the lead in the fourth on Nick Williams' hit and a wild pitch.

The lead sat at 4-2 in the bottom of the fifth following Hubbard's single.

Sam Ayers, who was hit by a pitch to lead off the inning, scored on an error in the sixth to pull Cass within one, and he tied things up at 4-all in the top of the seventh with his RBI single to left.

With the loss, its second in as many games, the Colonels conclude the season with a 14-12 record, 9-11 in Region 7-AAAA. Despite the two defeats, Cass finished with a winning record for the sixth straight season.
