Indians score 17 unanswered runs in come-from-behind LL win

The Braves took a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first on singles by Garett Cornett, Crawford Taylor and Austin Baker and a 2-RBI triple by Trey Holstein but the Indians scored 17 unanswered runs for their 17-3 victory in Cartersville Little League play April 25.

Nine Indians had at least one hit. Garrett Hite hit a 3-run home run and a double and scored 2 runs and 3 RBIs, Ian Inaba had 3 hits with a double, 3 runs and an RBI. John Gulisano hit a 2-run homer, drew a walk, scored a run and hit 2 RBIs.

The other hitters for the Indians were Dylan Webb, 2 hits with a double, a triple, 2 runs and an RBI; Malcolm Cooley, 2 hits with a run and 2 RBIs; Peyton Willoughby, 2 hits with 2 walks and 3 runs; Seth McFarland, 1 hit with a triple, a walk, 2 runs and 2 RBIs; Brendon Walker, a walk; Dalton Southern, 1 hit with 2 walks, 2 runs and an RBI; Dalton Henson, one hit with a run and an RBI.

Tyler Friedrich had a 2-RBI triple in the top of the first inning to help the Colts defeat the Crackers, 11-6, in Little League play April 25.

Tyler Bird, Chris Mills and Zach Hall also led the Colts at the plate with 2 hits each.

At the mound, Bird and Mills combined to pitch a 4-hitter with 12 strikeouts.

The Colts were led offensively by Bird, 2 hits with 2 doubles, 2 runs and an RBI; Mills, 2 hits with a double, a run and 3 RBI; Tyler Friedrich, a triple and a run; Caz Smith, 1 hit with 2 RBIs; Jake Richards, 1 hit with a run; Kaison Williams, 1 hit with a run; Kaleb Chatmon, 1 hit with a run; Connor Wall, a walk and 2 runs; Jonah Gambill, a walk and 2 runs.

Byrd gave the Colts 5 innings, 85 pitches and 9 strikeouts; Mills went 2 innings, threw 29 pitches and recorded 3 strikeouts.

Tigers 8, Dodgers 2

Brandon Hodge struck out 7 and scattered 4 hits while allowing 2 runs to help the Tigers defeat the Dodgers, 8-2, in Little League play April 26.

Hodge pitched 5 strong innings with 73 pitches for the Tigers, allowing 2 runs on 4 hits with 7 strikeouts. John Reed Evans pitched the sixth inning, using 13 pitches to retire the 3 batters he faced with 1 strikeout.

Jake Cooper and Grant Harris hit back-to-back home runs in the top of the first inning as the Tigers took a 4-0 lead, and Cooper added a 2-RBI single in the third inning.

The Dodgers scored a run in the bottom of the first inning, when Trey Harkins drew a walk and then scored on an RBI-triple by Matthew Greene. They scored their second run in the second frame when Tyler Dover singled and then scored later on a groundout by Logan Gates. The Dodgers threatened to score again in the fifth inning on back-to-back hits by Harkins and Greene after two outs, but Hodge got the next hitter on a groundout to end the inning.

For the Dodgers, Matthew Greene pitched 4 innings and 90 pitches with 8 strikeouts, and Logan Gates pitched 3 innings and 30 pitches with 1 strikeout.

Emmanuel Jones, Jacob Frye and Brant Smith drove in a combined 6 runs as the Padres defeated the Phillies, 14-4, in Little League play April 26.

Jones had 3 hits with 2 home runs, a double, 3 runs and 3 RBIs; Frye, 2 hits with a home run, 3 runs and an RBI; and Smith, 2 hits with 2 doubles, 3 runs and 2 RBIs. Six other Padres had one hit each. Jaylen Knowles and Jacob Frye combined to pitch a 3-hitter for the Padres.

For the Phillies, Jordon Wells hit a 3-RBI triple and then scored on a throwing error.
