Williams had been a person of interest since the incident took place last Friday morning in downtown Cartersville. Investigators had been following several leads over the past week which had led them to believe that Williams was still located in the metro Atlanta area. Investigators had been in contact with one of Williams' relatives for several days.
Concerning the arrest, Cartersville Police Chief Thomas Culpepper said in a news release, "I want to thank all of the citizens who provided information concerning the robbery, both at the time it occurred and throughout the past week. Input from the witnesses and tips about the whereabouts of the suspects were invaluable to us in finding those responsible for this crime.
"Although we wish this crime had never happened, it is a very good example of the community and the police working together to make the community a safer place in which to live."
Williams was is in custody at the Bartow County Jail and is being questioned by police investigators. Ray Montgomery, 22, of Cartersville, was arrested a few minutes after the robbery took place and remains in custody at the jail.
