Members of the American Legion Carl Boyd Post 42, and their guests, gathered at the American Legion building Monday morning to remember soldiers killed in combat and salute those who survived. The Cass High School JROTC was present to post the American flag and the colors of the Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force and Coast Guard.

The ceremony started with an invocation from Willie Cabe, chaplain of the post. Linda Shelton, of the post's Ladies Auxiliary, performed the laying of the wreath ceremony. Dale Cockrill, Commander of Post 42, then introduced the day's speaker -- Master Sgt. Dan Knowles, a first sergeant in Georgia's Air National Guard and Chief of Campus Police for the Bartow County School System.
