"In 2014, you are welcome to seize the turf," the narrator proclaims at the end of the video.
The 2:38 minute video shows computer-generated drawings of the complex, which is expected to provide 26,000 jobs and draw 4 million visitors annually.
First announced in December 2010, LakePoint features three miles of frontage along Interstate 75, including the Red Top Mountain and Emerson-Allatoona interchanges. Situated on 1,380 acres between I-75 and Highway 41, the project will feature sports fields, entertainment facilities, retail shops, restaurants, hotels and educational campuses when complete.
The core of the development is a 260-acre sports complex with 16 Major League Baseball-sized fields, 12 soccer and lacrosse fields and a 100,000-square-foot indoor sports facility.
The initial announcement said at overall build-out the project could touch a billion dollars and is expected to draw 3 million visitors each year.
This is not the first time the opening date has changed, with a first-pitch date originally set for this month.
