Already conference POY, Wimpy adds All-American to list of freshman honors

"She put on a show that I've never seen before ... [she] was just pretty phenomenal."

Walters State softball coach Larry Sauceman made that admission more than a year ago after witnessing a workout from former Woodland High catcher Diana Wimpy, which prompted him to sign the budding star.

Sauceman's words ring even truer today following Wimpy's tear through the National Junior College Athletic Association. Not only did she claim the batting triple crown in the Tennessee Community College Athletic Association, but late last month Wimpy received selection to the NJCAA Division I Softball All-America Team -- with her first-team selection being the first in her school's history.
