One injured in shooting

One person was injured and airlifted to a nearby hospital after being shot at least twice Tuesday afternoon.

According to a news release from the Cartersville Police Department, a shooting occurred about 1:35 p.m. Tuesday at a residence on Maple Drive in Cartersville. CPD Public Information Officer Lt. Mark Camp said the victim went to the residence to confront someone there in reference to an individual having taken the victim’s daughter to go buy drugs.

At some point, the victim, Tony Collum, 44, and the homeowner, Mark Harris, 53, got into a physical altercation. During the altercation, Collum was shot three times at close range with a .32 caliber handgun.

Harris, the alleged shooter, was on scene when police arrived and was taken into custody. Two other subjects at the residence were detained for questioning.

The victim was airlifted to Kennestone Hospital. The investigation is continuing.
