During trash removal, two employees on the back of the Cartersville Public Works trash truck No. 622 stated they were struck by rocks thrown by a male walking on North Tennessee Street.
Matching the suspect's description, William Scrutchins was detained at Marathon Gas Station -- 1139 N. Tennessee St. in Cartersville -- where the three complainants identified him as the violator. He was arrested and charged with battery and transported to the Cartersville Police Department.
Pat down results in more than 50 Oxycodone pills
After entering the Bartow County jail Friday on a charge of bondsman-off-bond by Falcon Bonding, Chase Gates received an additional charge of possession of drugs across guard line.
Along with an empty bottle of Oxycodone, which was prescribed to Gates, a deputy discovered about 22 Oxycodone pills concealed in his left sock and about 32 more pills in his right sock during a pat down. When asked about the pills, the BCSO incident report stated Gates expressed concern that the medical staff would not provide him with his medication, if he needed it.
An employee with Lincoln Harris Property Management reported his Lenovo laptop was stolen from his office between June 26 and 29. Arriving at the Cartersville Physicians Center -- 970 Joe Frank Harris Parkway, Suite 290 -- on Friday at 3:50 p.m., the Bartow County Sheriff's deputy observed there were possible pry marks on the office door and he obtained the computer's serial number.
