After tough schedule, Lady 'Cats think state

In the last 10 years, the Woodland Lady Wildcats have advanced to the Georgia High School Association state softball tournament six times, which probably made the 2011 season tough to digest for the team’s fans as well as its coach, who had never experienced a losing record at Woodland before its 14-17 finish.

Hard times may have been expected a season ago for a team that played a rather difficult schedule — opponents’ win percentage was .574 — despite having to replace several starters from the year before. There appears to have been a method to the madness for coach Colman Roberts, whose team figures to once again contend for a state playoff spot.
