On Friday night at a safety check on Red Top Mountain Road, an officer watched a car approaching the checkpoint stop. The driver got out and changed positions with the passenger of the car. The car allegedly continued on to the checkpoint, at which time the officer told the people in the car he saw them switch places.

After running Samantha Reiby’s license, the officer found her license had been suspended for lack of child support payment. The driver of the car admitted to the officer that he knew Reiby’s license had been suspended because they had been stopped by a Bartow County Sheriff’s deputy several weeks ago and the deputy informed her of the suspension. Reiby, however, allegedly denied having any knowledge of the suspension but finally admitted to the deputy she was served with a notice of suspension. Reiby was arrested and charged with driving with a suspended license.

Man repeats theft from Wal-Mart

An officer was dispatched to Wal-Mart after a man entered the store and allegedly picked out an item then proceeded to the service desk and exchanged it for the same item. He allegedly left the store without paying for anything he obtained. After viewing the security tapes, a member of the Wal-Mart staff called police with a description of the offender’s vehicle and tag number. Allegedly, the offender did this on two occasions with a car-top carrier on Aug. 9 and a TV stand on Aug. 10.

Two men arrested after they order drinks but unable to pay

Shawn Baum and Daniel Harper allegedly ordered drinks at the 2nd Half Sports Pub on Friday night and later refused to pay for them saying they did not have the money. A waitress at the bar told the responding officer the two men had already been drinking and paid their bill, then they ordered more alcoholic drinks. When Baum and Harper were presented with the second bill totaling $42.52, they had a disagreement about who was responsible. The officer gave them an opportunity to call someone who could bring them the money but neither man could reach anyone. Both men were arrested and charged with theft of services.
