According to CFD, firefighters responded to 44 Akron Street about 10 a.m. after Cartersville police called for assistance.
A pot of grease covered with a plate was left smoking on the stove but did not ignite. CFD said there was no damage to the structure only smoke.
CFD said officers had pursued and captured a male juvenile in connection with the incident, although it was unclear whether it was indeed an arson attempt.
At the same time, BCFD was working a residential fire on Penny Lane.
Stations 1, 2 and 5 responded just before 10 a.m. to the attic fire in a mobile home. The fire began in the rear of the residence and spread to the attic, where crews quickly contained the blaze.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation with damages estimated at $10,000.
Crews were back in service before 1 p.m.
BCFD units worked an accident Tuesday night involving a bear on Interstate 75 northbound, according to the department. A car reportedly struck and killed the animal a half mile south of exit 293. The vehicle then traveled off the roadway and into a ravine.
According to BCFD, the bear measured 5 feet and weighed 450 pounds.
No other information was available at press time.
