The win improved Woodland to 5-2 in Region 5-AAAAA while dropping South Paulding to 6-2. The Lady Wildcats are 15-7 overall and the Lady Spartans are 13-5-1.
“We really hit it tonight,” head coach Colman Roberts said. “We just kind of clicked. South Paulding is a very good team.”
He said the Lady Wildcats knew they were playing against one of the region’s best teams and had put their focus on making a good showing.
The Lady Wildcats led comfortably all game, jumping out to a 3-0 lead after one inning, moving to 5-1 after two and sending 5 across in the bottom of the fourth.
South Paulding, which scored its runs in the top of the second and third innings, was unable to score in the final two innings of the game, shortened by the run rule.
