James B. Castleberry, 79, of Cartersville, passed away Saturday, Sept. 22, 2012.

Mr. Castleberry was born May 6, 1933 in Gainesville, the son of the late Mark and Verdell (Conner) Castleberry, was a member of the Red Cross, the Salvation Army and Faith United Methodist Church and Outreach. He was a retired veteran, having served 22 years in the U.S. Army and during that time served in Korea and Vietnam.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Edwin Castleberry.

Surviving is his wife of 58 years, Shirley Davis Castleberry, of Cartersville; daughters, Cindy Castleberry, of Cumming; Becky Ferguson and her husband, Mark, of Dalton; grandchildren, Jaclyn, John, Rachael, Sarah Fleischer and Carl Fleischer III, Jacob and Emma Grace Ferguson; sister, Joyce Carducci, of Hiram; brother and sister-in-law, Victor and Nancy Castleberry, of Acworth and a number of nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Faith United Methodist Church Building Fund.

Members of the Faith United Methodist Church Journeymen Sunday school class will serve as pallbearers.
