Monday saw numerous calls for first responders due to the weather.

Cartersville Fire Department Capt. Johnny Fraiser said the calls began at roughly 7 a.m. with a seven vehicle wreck on Interstate 75. The fire department was on scene for roughly an hour and a half, and the only reported injury was a broken leg. There were no fatalities.

Another wreck then occurred at Joe Frank Harris Parkway and Center Road. Two vehicles were involved, and no major injuries were reported.

Cartersville fire was then called to I-75 a second time around 12:30 p.m. when a tractor-trailer, box truck and passenger vehicle wrecked and closed all southbound lanes.

Cartersville was assisting Bartow County Fire Department Station 6 on the scene. The tractor-trailer had jackknifed and the passenger vehicle was trapped between the trailer and the box truck.

According to Fraiser, the passenger car driver did not suffer any injuries aside from a few “minor scratches.”

Four other wrecks were called into Carterville fire as well, but were canceled as law enforcement officials were able to clear the wrecks.

On U.S. Highway 411, westbound, at Reynold’s Bridge Road, one lane was closed after a tractor-trailer carrying chickens overturned.

The Bartow County Fire Department was on scene for a couple of hours, according to a department spokesman.

Two were transported to the hospital for injuries sustained at the scene.

Another wreck also occurred at the same location but before the tractor-trailer overturned. A passenger vehicle traveling eastbound on 411 ran off the road, down the embankment and struck a tree. No injuries were reported.
