Born Jan. 16, 1913, in Huntsville, Ala., she was a daughter of the late Robert J. Smith and the late Lula Belle Erwin Smith. Mrs. Upshaw was a member of Douglas Street United Methodist Church. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a brother and four sisters.
Survivors include her daughters, Betty Riggins of Augusta and Nancy Upshaw of Cartersville; granddaughters, Robin Howard and her husband James, Kim Newcomb and her husband Mike, and Pat Miller and her husband Glen; four great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren; dear friend, Donna Avalos and her husband, Jose.
Funeral services will be held at the graveside on Friday, Oct. 5, at 2 p.m. in Sunset Memory Gardens with the Rev. Phillip Looney officiating.
