A Bartow County Sheriff’s Office deputy was dispatched to 40 Saddle Club Drive, Cartersville, in reference to a man prowling through the moble home park and beating on doors while carrying a rifle.

According to the incident report, the victim said she heard someone knocking on her front door, and when she opened the door, she saw a man holding what she thought was a sawed-off rifle. She slammed the door and then the man began walking around the residence while hitting the residence’s sides and back door, while screaming the name Michelle. The victim said she lost sight of the suspect when he was behind the residence.

Another resident also said she was sleeping when she heard a man walking around her residence while beating on the doors and screaming “Michelle.”

The deputy, according to the report, saw footprints in the dew leading to another residence in the park. He spoke with the residents, who all said a man by the name of Eric was at their home until around 4:20 a.m. and he allegedly had a BB gun with him.

One of the residents said Eric lived near the rear of the mobile home park.

A second deputy on scene made contact with the suspect, who was later identified as Eric DeWayne Dysart. According to the second deputy, Dysart admitted to being at one of the residences with a BB gun in hand.

Dysart said he was trying to make contact with someone named Steve while carrying the BB gun. He also said he was standing beside a truck with Steve and then Steve left for work without him.

Dysart was arrested for prowling and transported to the Bartow County Jail without incident. The BB gun was taken into custody as evidence.
