The unofficial results from the Bartow County Board of Education Post 4 election point to Republican Fred Kittle beating incumbent Wanda Cagle Gray, who ran as an Independent. The results showed Kittle with a lead of 2,003 votes, or 55.72 percent, compared to Gray’s 1,592 votes, or 44.28 percent.

Post 4 includes the areas of Euharlee, Mission Road and Taylorsville.

“I just want to compliment my opponent for running a clean race and never being negative in any way and I just look forward to working with the board,” Kittle said. “I definitely would like to thank everybody for their vote and I look forward to working with the community and the school system together.

“I think in a lot of major things if you have the community involved you can just accomplish so much.”

Gray also thanked her constituents and her opponent.

“I’ve enjoyed the majority of my four years served. I wish Fred Kittle the best of luck,” Gray said. “I will still be involved, I will still ask questions, and we still have wonderful children and a wonderful staff.”

She added, “Running as an Independent may have not been in my best interest of being re-elected, but I had to do it for the children because we don’t vote on party issues for children.”
