Starting with a skills game and a banquet on Friday and concluding with three softball games on Saturday, Woodland Lady Wildcats’ Taylor Braselton and Lacey Fritz will be part of a select group of players who will be participating in the prestigious Georgia Dugout Club all-star game.

The two-day event is being held on the campus of Mercer University in Macon.

Braselton and Fritz were selected by a core group of coaches who made their selections after reviewing countless number of submitted entries.

“It is a great honor for Taylor and Lacey to play in this event,” Woodland softball coach Colman Roberts said. “You have the best from seven different regions who were selected for their ability to play the game well.”

Although it is supposed to be a fun weekend, Roberts expects the six games scheduled on Saturday to be very competitive.

“You’ll have players who have not signed with anybody yet,” he said. “So, they will do their best to impress the college scouts who will be there.”

Braselton and Fritz helped lead the Lady Wildcats to a 25-12 overall record and a trip to the Class AAAAA softball championships.

The duo will play on a softball team comprised of all-stars throughout the state from Region AAAAA and Region AAAAAA.
