Born Dec. 8, 1930, in Marietta, he was a son of the late John Maurice Barfield and the late Betty Carney Barfield. Mr. Barfield was a member of Crowe Springs Baptist Church and was a veteran of the United States Army, proudly serving during the Korean War. Dan loved playing softball and played for many years in the senior league at Hobgood Park.
Survivors include his wife, Helen Barfield of Adairsville; sons, John Barfield of Woodstock and James Barfield of Los Angeles, Calif.; brother, Jack Barfield of Marietta; sister, Betty Sue Jordan of Marietta; stepchildren, Cheryl Carter, Sheila Gunther, Forrest Boss and Scott Martin; granddaughter, Britney Barfield; and several nieces and nephews.
A service will be held at the graveside in Barfield Cemetery in Marietta on Saturday, Nov. 17, at 1 p.m., with The Rev. Ronnie Cowart officiating. A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
The family suggests that those who wish may make donations to the American Cancer Society, 1256 N. Cobb Parkway, Suite 102, Marietta, GA 30062-2420, in memory of Mr. Barfield.
