Cartersville Police Department Public Information Officer Capt. Mark Camp said just before 6 p.m. Monday that the status of the investigation into the shooting death of Randal Statler Jr., 28, remained the same.
Statler had been “mudding” earlier Sunday and had gone to the Sun-Glo Car Wash at 390 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive to clean the mud from his truck.
His body was discovered just after 11 p.m. Sunday, lying next to the vehicle. He had been shot one time.
Based on the physical evidence, Camp said it appeared Statler was shot sometime between 7 and 11 p.m.
Camp said robbery may have been the motive, although it was unclear whether anything of value was taken. Coins were found around the car wash stall.
According to a CPD release, there are no suspects and the investigation is ongoing.
