On Friday at 8 a.m., a Bartow County Sheriff’s Office deputy was dispatched to the TA Travel Center on Cass White Road.
Upon arrival, the deputy met with the complainant who stated he purchased a trailer from the suspect at that location. The victim stated he met the suspect on Craigslist and purchased the enclosed trailer for $3,000. The victim showed the responding deputy a bill of sale from his purchase and a copy of the bill of sale from the suspect’s purchase of the trailer, according to the incident report. The suspect allegedly told the victim he worked for Georgia Power and was driving a late model white Ford F-150.
When the victim attempted to register the trailer in Hall County, he was informed it was stolen from Dawson County. The Hall County Sheriff’s Office took possession of the trailer. After speaking with police, the victim contacted the suspect to inform him the trailer was stolen property and confiscated by police.
According to the incident report, when the victim told him he sold him a stolen trailer, the suspect said, “I did,” in a surprised tone. Since that time, the victim has been unable to reach the suspect.
Also, on Friday, the BCSO was contacted by another man claiming he had unknowingly bought a stolen trailer. When the victim attempted to register the trailer in Walker County, he was informed it was stolen and seized by police. The victim told police the number he has for the seller is no longer in service.
Copper stolen from Community Center
A representative at the Bartow County Community Center, located at 684 Center Road, Cartersville, told police on Friday that an unknown subject came onto the property Thursday night.
All the copper tubing and wiring on the air conditioning unit was removed. This is not the first time the center has been vandalized. The air conditioner had been damaged earlier in the year due to someone stealing parts from it.
