It was also a quiet one as they lost, 62-57, to the Rome Lady Wolves, in the consolation round of the Rome News-Tribune holiday tournament Friday.
“It’s always a long bus ride home anytime you lose,” coach Cindy Moore said.
Contributing to Cartersville’s second consecutive loss in as many nights was all the energy that was spent battling back from a 12-point first-quarter deficit.
Moore attributed her team’s slow start to failing to recover mentally from Thursday night’s 46-32 loss to Model.
“One night you are looking forward to playing in the championship game,” Moore said. “Then tonight we have to prepare ourselves mentally and physically for a consolation round game.”
By the time the second half rolled around it looked like the Lady Canes had fully recovered from their lethargic start.
