From 7 to 10 a.m. Tuesday, the radiothon will be broadcast live on WBHF with donations going to aid those affected by Wednesday’s tornado. WBHF Station Manager and Cartersville Mayor Matt Santini said contributions may be made by calling in to 770-386-1450 or dropping donations at the station, 7 N. Wall St. in Cartersville.
Representatives from WBHF, The Daily Tribune News and Cartersville Uncut also will be out in downtown accepting donations.
“We will be taking donations for United Way,” Santini said, “with funds going ... specifically for tornado relief in Adairsville.”
Adairsville was struck late Wednesday morning by the twister that left a path of destruction through the heart of the town. Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner Ralph Hudgens on Thursday estimated the insured loss at $75 million.
Santini said the group would be the same as the one that teamed up to raise $48,000 during a radiothon following tornadoes in April 2011 that damaged portions of Bartow County.
“We’ve done it before and we’re doing it again,” he said.
