Woodland will play New Manchester today at 6 p.m. at East Paulding.
Woodland and North Paulding had been knotted at 27-all after the 4:23 mark of the final quarter when Hummel’s thievery helped the Lady Wildcats break the 27-all tie. It was the first lead all night for Woodland. The two teams were tied briefly at 2-all early in the first quarter.
Katie Harris had helped Woodland tie North Paulding by hitting the second of two foul shots and then followed up Hummel’s score with a bucket off an assist from the junior guard, expanding the lead to 31-27.
Kennedy Robinson quickly hit both ends of a one-and-one to push the lead to 33-27. Morgan Ferrell of North Paulding responded with two free throws to close the score to 33-29. Robinson scored Woodland’s last point almost 30 seconds later for a 34-29 lead and Jalexis Teemer buried a 3-pointer with 5 seconds left to pull within 34-32 for North Paulding.
