“It’s hard just to beat the same team twice let alone three times,” said a leery coach Mike Tobin hours before the Canes and North Murray were to play once again. “It’s just human nature to take a team you’ve already beaten twice for granted. On the other hand, if I am the team that has lost both times I’m going to make it sure it doesn’t happen a third time.”
The Canes made sure that any type of revenge North Murray was looking for had to wait until next season with their clutch-free throws late in the fourth quarter.
Ryan Davis and A.J. Mosby were perfect at the free throw line, thus enabling Cartersville (26-1) to defeat North Murray once again, this time by a score of 58-49, and win the Region 5-AAA championship.
Davis was 4-for-4 and Mosby was 3-for-3 from the free throw line as the seconds slowly ticked off the fourth quarter clock in a game played at Sonoraville High School.
