Woodland wins in soccer

Woodland got a taste of hospitality at Gordon Central on Wednesday, and the Lady Wildcats showed their appreciation with a 5-0 shutout in girls high school soccer.

Lindsey Good scored first for Woodland as she took an assist from Keri Cagle and gave her team a 1-0 first-half lead. Emily Moore next found net after an assist by Sara Garrett. That boosted Woodland to a 2-0 lead that held up until halftime of the contest.

In the second half, a goal by Destiny Wood and an assist by Hailie Parshall extended the lead to 3-0. The team’s fourth goal came courtesy of Garrett with an assist by Wood.

The final goal of the game was scored by Parshall with an assist by Garrett.

Alicia Velasquez got the shutout in goal for Woodland, her third of the season.
