‘Woodland Idol’ set for this Friday

Woodland High School will host its annual Woodland Idol competition Friday at the WHS Performing Arts Center, beginning at 7 p.m. Twelve singers will compete for the coveted title of “Woodland Idol.”

According to a press release, “Annually, singers audition for the opportunity to compete to become the next Woodland Idol. This year’s contestants include Taylor Hall, Ashley Simms, Amber Banks, Glyeder Jorge, Marleigh Boston, Julissa Tello, Darcy Guider, Micaiah Roberts, Bailey Eskew, Bailey Conger, Nathaniel Rocafort and Allis Gilstrap.

“Audience votes will decide who will be the ‘Woodland Idol 2013.’”

Guest performances will include 2012 Woodland Idol winner Abe Miller, singers Caroline Stuart and Emily Roberts, and a special dance appearance by the Woodland Idol Dance Crew.

WHS performing arts alumni Kerrie Robinson will serve as master of ceremonies. Guest judges include Heather Candela, Andrew Burgess and Crawford Taylor.

The school is located at 800 Old Alabama Road in Cartersville. Admission is $10 and tickets may be purchased at the door beginning 30 minutes prior to show time.
