Cartersville swept Gordon Central in girls and boys high school tennis play Tuesday at Dellinger Park.
Both teams took 5-0 victories.
Coach Melissa Moore said the victories are important for both Cartersville teams because Gordon Central is a region foe.

“I’m very proud of the girls,” Moore said.
“We lost just one senior from last year, Adrienne Green, so we had a strong returning team.
“They know how to pull everything together and are very focused on their goals. They have an excellent start to the season.”
In No. 1 singles play, Darian DeFrench defeated Torey Parker, 6-0, 6-0.
“Darian has a dominating serve and she used it and outhit her opponent,” Moore said.
Mallory Walker, the team’s No. 2 singles player, overcame Lindsey Holbert, 6-0, 6-0.
“Mallory is a consistent player with well-placed shots,” Moore said.
“She was excellent all around against Gordon Central.”
In No. 3 singles play, Maddi McGinnis bested Jennifer Rodriguez, 6-0, 6-0.
In No. 1 doubles play, twins Charleston Fox and Annabeth Fox defeated Janet Chavez and Ashley Farrell, 6-1, 6-1.
In No. 2 doubles play, Ali Norwood and Sarah Vaughan picked up 6-1, 6-0 victories over Peyton Robinson and Zoe Holcomb.

The Cartersville boys also earned their second victory in region play Tuesday against Gordon Central.
Claiming wins for Cartersville were Trevor Gotkowski, No. 1 singles play, with 6-0, 6-0 victories over Chris Bingiel; Nathan Slocum, No. 2 singles player, over Kyle Sutton, 6-2, 6-0; Drew Adsit, No. 3 singles play, with decisions over Tristan Morgan, 6-1, 6-1; and in No. 1 doubles play,
Tyler Hill and Matthew Scott against Cotton Carroll and Ma
