According to the Emerson police report, the driver of a 2012 Peterbilt tractor-trailer owned by an Alabama company was fueling his rig at Love’s Travel Center just after 10:30 p.m. and entered the business to eat, returning at 11 p.m. to find the vehicle stolen.
The driver told police the trailer was carrying a load of narcotics from Vintage Pharmaceuticals and was equipped with a GPS locator.
Working with the trucking company, Bartow 911 advised officers the truck was in Cherokee County close to Interstate 575.
The truck and trailer, with the seal intact, were located by Holly Springs police in an industrial park. A Holly Springs officer reported that two men in a red pickup truck left the scene quickly when he arrived.
The vehicle was turned over to another driver to finish the transport.
