The Woodland High School Jazz Band will host its annual Enchanted Evening at Trinity United Methodist Church Family Life Center on Saturday, March 23, at 6 p.m. The annual event will feature dinner, jazz performed by the WHS Jazz Band and a silent auction.

“The program includes musical performances by small musical groups from Woodland Middle School and the Woodland Jazz Band,” Band Director Eric Willoughby said. “The music performed throughout the night is a variety of classic and popular jazz charts. Formal dinner is included in the ticket price.

“There is also a huge silent auction that includes a number of great items.

WHS Band Booster Association President Danel Lins cited recent accomplishments of the jazz band, including earning second place in the 2012 Atlanta Youth Band Competition, later performing on the main stage of the Atlanta Jazz Festival last May.

”The Woodland High School band program seeks to be an organization to include students of all levels and to provide a quality experience with opportunities to develop as advanced musicians and good citizens,” Lins said in a press release.

He added, “The band program receives very little funding from the school system, so to carry out our mission, we must rely on the involvement and generosity of our community. Enchanted Evening is one of just a few key fundraisers sponsored by our band boosters.”

Proceeds from the event will directly support the WHS band program and help cover expenses such as instrument purchases and new uniforms. Tickets are $18 per person and include a meal and dessert.

“You can kick up your heels if you care to enjoy the dance floor, and you also have the opportunity to participate in a prize-packed silent auction,” Lins said. “Auction items include a four pack of Disney World Park Hopper passes, hotel stays at the Embassy Suites and Hilton Garden Inn, a pontoon rental, tickets to Six Flags, Dollywood, and other area attractions, and food, games, jewelry and much more.”
