Down 3-0 to Coahulla Creek before ever coming to bat in the bottom of the first, the Adairsville Tigers battled back to tie the game at 3-3 with two runs in the fifth innings and the tying run in the seventh.

But eight extra innings later, the Colts pushed across two unearned runs and headed back home with a 5-3 5-AAA region victory. Of the five runs Coahulla Creek scored, only one was earned.

In the loss, the Tigers’ Hunter Smith had two hits and two RBIs. Dylan Cochran also had two hits and scored two runs. Cody Melton, who also scored a run, was also a member of the two-hit club. Nate Medlock drove in a run without the virtue of a hit.

Although he did not score or drive in a run, Adairsville’s leadoff hitter, Tyler Washington, had three hits in seven at-bats.

Tigers’ coach Eric Bishop used four pitchers with Nael Knight going the final six innings. Starter Tristin Smith only lasted one inning.

Coahulla Creek’s Zack Glines pitched the final seven innings in relief to get the win.
