Coach Mark Hibbard is looking forward to playing a No. 1-seeded team in the first round of the upcoming state Class A playoffs in tennis.

“Hopefully, whomever we play will take us lightly and we’ll be able to surprise them,” coach Mark Hibbard said.

Hibbards remarks about the state playoffs followed the Lady Eagles’ loss to Walker in the finals of the Region 6-A tournament.

Walker defeated Excel 3-2 Monday.

No. 1 singles player Moriah Hibbard and the No. 2 doubles team of Tessa Thornborough and Abbey Keefe won their respective matches.

Moriah Hibbard won, 6-1, 6-1. Thornborough and Keefe weere 6-2, 1-6, 6-2 winners. Losses came at No. 2 and No. 3 singles and by the No. 1-seeded doubles team.
