Bartow County Commissioner Steve Taylor approved four agenda items at Wednesday’s June 19 public meeting.

Taylor authorized an agreement between the county and Townsend Park Health and Rehabilitation Center that allows for the transfer of funds under an agreement of participation.

“This is a federal program that provides supplemental money for those institutions that take in a lot of Medicare or Medicaid patients,” explained County Attorney Peter Olson. “Because Bartow County owns the facility, we get a cut of the money.”

Other actions Taylor took include:

• Authorizing an agreement with Petit Timber Inc., to clear areas of trees for future expansion of the Allatoona Dam Road landfill. The funds for this project came from the 2014 Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax agreement.

• Authorizing an agreement extension with Waste Industries LLC to pay to dump waste at the county landfill.

• Appointing Cartersville attorney Brandon Bowen to the newly created position of Probate Court Prosecutor.

According to the Commissioner’s Office, the next commissioner meeting is tentatively scheduled for Wednesday, July 10, at 10 a.m.
