A lone boater Sunday was killed when he fell from his vessel on Lake Allatoona.

Bartow County Fire Department Battalion Chief Sandy Turner said witnesses told authorities about 10:30 a.m. the man was traveling out of a no-wake zone and began to throttle up.

When the 16-foot bass boat struck a wave, the man was thrown out and the boat struck him multiple times. Turner said the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Dallas man was alone on board the boat.

A head-on collision Sunday morning also sent a handful of people to area hospitals.

Turner said the small passenger car and small pickup collided about 10:15 a.m. on Mac Johnson Road. One person was taken to Scottish Rite, one to Floyd Medical Center and several were transported to Cartersville Medical Center.
