It’s four in a row for Bartow County as Brooke Rucker was selected as the Distinguished Young Woman of Georgia at the state scholarship program competition Saturday evening at Cobb Civic Center’s Jennie T. Anderson Theatre.

She will be representing the class of 2014 at the national competition next June in Mobile, Ala.

Rucker won four preliminary awards, including fitness, self-expression, interview and talent. As the state representative, she won a $5,000 cash scholarship and an additional $300 for each preliminary award for a total of $6,200.

Brooke is the sixth representative of Bartow County to win since the program began in 1958. Mary Jon Bradley (Garrison) won the first competition in 1958, and after 51 years, Abbey Hufstetler took the title for the class of 2009, then Caroline Lloyd for the class of 2011, Mary-Clayton Gilbert for the class of 2012, and Avian Brown for the class of 2013.

Brooke is a rising senior at Woodland High School and the daughter of Donald and Tanya Rucker of Cartersville.
