A service to celebrate the life of William Carl Bell of Blythewood, S.C. will be held at 1:30 pm on Tuesday, Sept.3, 2013 at Northeast Presbyterian Church, 601 Polo Road. A visitation on Monday, Sept. 2 from 6-8 p.m. at Kornegay & Moseley Funeral Home on Hard Scrabble Road. Burial will follow the service at Fort Jackson National Cemetery.
Carl, 66, passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 28. Born in Cartersville, on Nov. 23, 1946, he was the son of Katherine Harden Bell and the late Robert Bell. Carl served as a medic with the 1st Air Cavalry during the Vietnam War from 1967-1968. He attended USC and worked as a computer analyst with Sunbeam Outdoor Co. in Manning. He also was a logistic manager at Sumter Cabinet. Winning many awards, he was a professional artist, selling many prints and paintings all over the world. Carl was a long time member of Alice Drive Baptist in Sumter, S.C. and once he moved to Blythewood, S.C. he became a member of Northeast Presbyterian Church. He was also a member of the TAG Artist Guild and The Blythewood Artist Guild. . He was a member of the men’s Quest group at Northeast Presbyterian. Carl volunteered at the Homeless Shelter in Columbia, S.C. He was a great husband and father.
He is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Jean Byrd Bell; children, Tammy and Rob Watson, and Chad and Kim Newman; grandchildren, Claudia Watson and Garrett Watson; mother, Katherine Bell; sister, Charlotte and Ed Harden; brother, Kenny and Millie Bell ; several nieces and nephews; several granddogs.
