Lanelle W. Vaughan, 87, of Cartersville, died Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2013.

Mrs. Vaughan was born Nov. 30, 1925, in Bartow County, a daughter of the late Merida Ward and Pauline Hawkins Ward. Lanelle was a member of the Christian Fellowship Church and a homemaker. A lady that loved her Lord, she was active in earlier years in the Feed the Needy program and was a Prayer Warrior. She was known for her chicken and dressing and chocolate five-layer cake. She will be greatly missed by her family.

Preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Ralph Vaughan, she is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Joyce and Wayne Swinford of Cartersville and Joan and Allan Garland, also of Cartersville; two grandchildren, Jennifer Westbrook Vann of Cartersville and Preston Garland of Los Angeles, Calif.; one great-grandchild, Reese Kelly; brothers and sisters-in-law, Lud and Hazel Ward of Ohio and John and Dee Akins, of White; a brother and sister-in-law, Sherlin and Marie Vaughan; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 22, from the chapel of the Owen Funeral Home, with Rev. Jody Cagle officiating. Interment will follow in the Oak Hill cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday.
